Close your eyes and imagine yourself enjoying white crystal sandy beaches with a rum drink in hand. Imagine the serenity, peacefulness and ocean breeze of a 5 star resort. Now open your eyes….you are at Zemi Beach Hotel House and Spa on the beautiful island of Anguilla. Located at Shoal Bay East, this magnificent 6 acre ocean front resort offers a contemporary luxury experience anchored in rich island traditions. From nourishing treatments within an ancient Thai house to small-batch rums enjoyed within the elegant Rhum Room where guests can choose from over 100 single-estate rums from around the world, guests are transported by experiences that awaken and engage their senses. The Goldstein family has owned the resort for 3 years and it is managed by GM Mr. Paulo Paias. We spoke with Ivo Scheuneman, Food & Beverage Manager who told us that what makes their restaurants unique is the “amazing beach front seating on one of the best beaches in the Caribbean, Shoal Bay. We have an exceptional staff and our exciting menu is a plus.”
Zemi Beach has two restaurants. Stone has a seasonally inspired menu which is anchored in Anguilla’s rich culinary traditions. At this fine dining restaurant, guests enjoy a selection of fine wines and handcrafted cocktails paired with seafood, fish, and meat entrees. Enjoy Grilled Red Snapper with brunois vegetables, butternut squash puree and mango sauce or the Grilled Margret Duck Breast with asparagus, beet puree, and orange sauce. If you prefer beef, enjoy their Stone Steak which is beef tenderloin with a sweet potato mash, sautéed vegetables and bearnaise sauce. Be sure to leave room for one of five delectable desserts!
If you are in the mood for more casual dining, you can visit 20 Knots beachfront dining. Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner showcasing the flavors of the Caribbean and Latin America. For lunch there are many choices such as small plates, salads and “simply skewered” kabobs. Their “hand held” options include Grilled Zemi Tacos, the Shoal Bay Burger, and Crispy Fried Chicken. Their dinner menu is an expanded version of the lunch menu and includes additional items such as brick oven pizzas, Caribbean Chicken Curry and Surf and Turf, to name a few. On Wednesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., “20 Knots brings its inspired cuisine to the beach for an unforgettable multi-course barbecue. Choose from a wide variety delicious salads, followed by mouthwatering grilled meats as well as other delights fresh from the sea.”
Anguilla was impacted by Hurricane Irma in September 2017. They were closed for 5 months but reopened with a strong start and outgoing staff. “We offer the total package and an uplifting experience” which is why Zemi Beach has been won numerous prestigious awards from Travel & Leisure and Trip Advisor.
